License Course

Getting your Ham License

Next in-person class February 1-2, 2025

Snohomish ACS offers Amateur Radio Technician Class license courses around the County on request.  The course includes classroom instruction and the FCC license exam over two days (a single weekend).  This is everything you need to get your amateur radio license.  We use the Amateur Radio Technician Class Licensing book by Stephen Horan available on Amazon.  You are welcome to purchase it directly from Amazon in advance of the course.

You can bring food or there are plenty of local lunch options and coffee will be provided.  The course fee is $30 and includes the book, course materials and FCC test fee.  If you have your own book, the fee is $15 and you are also welcome to simply come test (all license classes are available) for $14.  If you would like to test and aren't attending the class, we recommend contacting us in advance so we can provide entry details and we know you're coming.  Registration for the course is required for us to insure we have enough materials.

There are online study materials and practice tests at Ham Test Online and Ham StudyWe also have a short study guide available for download.  The study guide is focused on material that appears multiple times in the question pool and simply must be memorized.  The course slides are also available for download.

Other classes and test sessions are available around the area and can be found at http://n7cfo.com/amradio/hf/cls&ve.htm.  Online testing is now available.  There are a large number of test sessions available but they require a reservation.  Ham Study has a list of available testing sessions.
